Leoda’s Kitchen and Pie Shop in Maui Review: Is It Worth It?

Why Leoda’s is a Must-Visit Spot?

First off, let’s talk about the food. As someone who considers themselves a pie expert, my husband was blown away by the banana cream pie from Leoda’s Kitchen and Pie Shop. It was so good that he declared it the best he’s ever had! And trust me, we’ve tried a lot of pies. But it’s not just the pie that makes Leoda’s stand out – their sandwiches are also top-notch.

During our recent visit to Maui, we decided to pick up some sandwiches and a pie to-go. After an exciting snorkeling adventure in Turtle Town, we returned to the hotel in Kaanapali.

As we enjoyed our meal, we relished the breathtaking view of the ocean from our hotel balcony. The fresh ingredients and attention to detail in every dish are what sets Leoda’s apart from the rest.

Pies, Pies, and More Great Pies!

Leoda’s Kitchen and Pie Shop is famous for its hand-crafted pies, sandwiches, and artisanal bread. The bakery specializes in pies, offering a wide variety of flavors ranging from traditional apple to macadamia nut chocolate, and of course, my favorite, the banana cream pie. They are made in-house, using the freshest ingredients, and you can also place an order for a whole pie to take back to your hotel or condominium. If you’re a fan of pie, you won’t be disappointed by the selection on offer here, including the yummy flaky crust.

  • Coconut Cream Pie – A close second to the banana cream pie, this one has a flaky crust filled with creamy coconut custard and topped with a generous amount of whipped cream.
  • Olowalu Lime Pie – Made with the famous Olowalu limes grown right here on Maui, this tangy and refreshing pie is perfect for a hot day.
  • Leoda’s Classic Apple Pie – You can’t go wrong with a classic apple pie! Leoda’s version has perfectly baked apples in a flaky crust, topped with streusel for an extra crunch.

The Popular Demand

It’s common to see a long line outside Leoda’s. This beloved pie shop has gained quite a reputation, and locals and tourists alike flock to indulge in their famous pies. But don’t let the line deter you, as it moves quickly and is worth the wait for a taste of their great desserts.

The prices at Leoda’s are reasonable, although some might find it pricey compared to other Maui dining options. They offer excellent value for money, with portions that are generous for the price.

A single mini pie costs $10, but it’s worth the price for its heavenly taste and high-quality local ingredients. Sandwiches cost around $15, with salads and entrees priced at around the same price range. Their combo options are worth considering, too.

PRO TIP: A good way to end your Maui stay is to stop by on your way to the Kahului airport and pick up sandwiches and a pie for each to eat on your way home.

Our Experience at Leoda’s Kitchen and Pie Shop

I first heard about Leoda’s from a travel group that raved about their banana cream pie. My husband and I decided to give it a try on our next trip to Maui, and we were blown away by the quality of their pies. We’ve been regulars ever since, making sure to stop by after snorkeling or doing other tours on the island.

On one particular trip, we decided to try something new and ordered their BLTs for our flight home from the Kahului Airport in Maui. It was a game-changer!

Not only did we have a delicious meal on the plane, but we also received envious looks from other passengers. We couldn’t help but feel like VIPs as we indulged in our Leoda’s sandwiches and Banana Cream Pie at 35,000 feet.

This is one of our favorite meals in Maui, including the individual-sized pie and delicious sandwiches.
