Over the past five years, Marugame Udon in Waikiki has become a must-stop spot whenever we’re in Honolulu. Despite the consistently long lines out the door, they always move quickly. Each visit, I’m still fascinated watching the chefs expertly prepare fresh udon noodles by hand—a fun peek into authentic Japanese cooking.
My go-to dish is the BK Udon, served with sweet and savory beef and flavorful Kake sauce. The noodles remain perfectly chewy, the beef tender, and the broth consistently rich and comforting. Our favorite crispy shrimp and sweet potato tempura sides have also never disappointed.
Even on busy days, we’ve managed to find seating without much trouble. Marugame Udon consistently delivers an affordable, quick, and delicious experience that keeps us returning year after year.
