Our Experience at Ali’i Kula Lavender Farm

We’ve visited Ali’i Kula Lavender Farm several times while exploring Maui. Each visit feels a little different because the flowers, weather, and views change throughout the year.

Arriving at the Farm

We purchased our admission at the booth when we arrived. Once inside, the elevated location immediately gave us beautiful views across Maui.

Walking Through the Gardens

We usually stroll through the gardens without rushing. The property features lavender alongside colorful flowers, interesting plants, and peaceful walking paths.

We enjoy stopping for photos and taking in the scenery. The gardens offer plenty to appreciate, even when the lavender isn’t at peak bloom.

Visiting During Lavender Season

Seeing the lavender in bloom makes the farm especially memorable. The color, fragrance, and mountain setting create an experience that’s difficult to capture in pictures.

However, lavender blooms can vary by season and growing conditions. We still find the gardens and panoramic views worth the drive at other times.

What to See and Do at Ali’i Kula Lavender Farm

Ali’i Kula Lavender Farm offers more than rows of lavender. You can explore colorful gardens, admire island views, shop for souvenirs, and enjoy lavender-inspired treats.

Enjoy the Panoramic Maui Views

The panoramic views are one of our favorite reasons to visit the farm. Its Upcountry location provides sweeping views across Maui and toward the coastline.

Take time to pause and enjoy the scenery as you explore. On a clear day, the views alone make the drive worthwhile.

Explore the Flowers and Plants

The farm features lavender plants, tropical flowers, trees, and other interesting plants. What you see will vary depending on the season and growing conditions.

We enjoy wandering along the paths and discovering what’s blooming during each visit. You don’t need a packed itinerary to enjoy this peaceful setting.

Browse the Gift Shop

The gift shop is a fun stop before leaving the farm. We’ve purchased coffee, tea, snacks, and souvenirs during our visits.

You’ll find lavender-themed products and locally inspired gifts. Inventory can change, so take a few minutes to browse the current selection.

Try a Lavender Treat

Leave time to try one of the farm’s drinks or snacks. We’ve enjoyed the coffee, tea, and treats during our visits.

Specific offerings may change, but they add a flavorful finish to your time at the farm. They’re also a nice excuse to sit and enjoy the views a little longer.

Planning Your First Visit

A little planning will help you enjoy Ali’i Kula Lavender Farm without feeling rushed. Always confirm current hours and admission details before driving into Upcountry Maui.

Hours and Admission

Ali’i Kula Lavender Farm is currently open Friday through Monday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The last admission is at 3:45 p.m.

General admission costs $5 per person. Seniors, military members, and Hawaii residents pay $2, while children 12 and younger enter free.

You don’t need a reservation for a self-guided visit. We’ve purchased our tickets at the booth each time we’ve visited.

How Long to Spend at the Farm

Plan to spend 60 to 90 minutes exploring the gardens, enjoying the views, and visiting the gift shop. That’s usually enough time for us to see everything without rushing.

Allow extra time if you enjoy garden photography or want to relax with a drink or snack. The peaceful setting makes it easy to linger.

What to Wear and Bring

Wear comfortable shoes because some paths may be sloped or uneven. Upcountry Maui can feel cooler than the resort areas, so bring a light layer.

Sunscreen, water, and a camera will also come in handy. Consider visiting earlier in the day for cooler temperatures and potentially clearer views.

Accessibility Considerations

The hillside setting includes slopes and garden paths that may challenge visitors with limited mobility. Contact the farm before visiting if you have specific accessibility questions.

You can still enjoy the scenery, gift shop, and refreshments without walking every path. Choose the areas that feel comfortable and enjoy the farm at your own pace.

How to Get to Ali’i Kula Lavender Farm

Ali’i Kula Lavender Farm sits on the slopes of Haleakalā in Upcountry Maui. A rental car gives you the flexibility to explore the farm and nearby attractions at your own pace.

Driving From Maui’s Resort Areas

The farm is located at 1100 Waipoli Road in Kula. The drive becomes winding as you climb higher, but the changing scenery makes it enjoyable.

Download directions before leaving your resort since cell service can be unreliable in parts of Upcountry Maui. Drive slowly near the farm and watch for narrow roads and local traffic.

Visiting From a Cruise Ship

We’ve visited Ali’i Kula Lavender Farm during a Maui cruise using a rental car. It’s a relaxing alternative to a traditional shore excursion if you’re comfortable exploring independently.

Allow extra time to pick up and return your rental car. Always confirm your ship’s all-aboard time before planning your route.

Parking at the Farm

Free parking is available near the entrance. Arriving earlier gives you more time to explore without worrying about the farm’s final admission time.

The parking area and surrounding roads sit on a hillside. Take your time when driving and walking around the property.
